Online Course
This online course provides an introduction to working with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) with EMDR therapy. It emphasizes the importance of clinician training due to the higher-than-expected prevalence of DID and explores the impact of stigma, misinformation, and media portrayals on both clients and professionals. Information on the neurobiological correlates of DID are reviewed, including the dorsovagal response underlying dissociation and differences in brain scans of DID individuals. Theory driven explanations of the link between attachment wounds and trauma in the development of DID are explored. Additionally, the Progressive Approach to EMDR therapy is introduced, with guidance on assessing readiness, selecting appropriate targets, and adapting techniques for DID. The course is focused on adult clients.
