This book is the first for the utilization of EMDR with war and terrorism survivors. Readers will learn about the application of EMDR with clients suffering from trauma reactions to war and terrorism as well as basic principles of relief work. The EMDR method is reviewed and is built on to prepare the reader for working with war and terrorism clients, including the nature of war and terrorism trauma, the experience of EMDR from both a client and a therapist perspective, particular issues and opportunities when the eight-phase EMDR treatment protocol is used with these clients, the use of EMDR in a crisis intervention environment, working with children, and special issues including grief, guilt, and anger. Working cross culturally and issues that can arise in relief work for mass trauma situations are both addressed, as is research.
