It is important to understand the cause of a children’s dysregulation to help them regulate so they may safely process trauma and function in daily life. This online course will review brain function and the impact of attachment and trauma on dysregulation as well as the roles of relationship, education, and communication in regulation. Understanding why a child is dysregulated is important in selecting an appropriate/effective calming skill. A variety of play based stabilization and resourcing methods for children and parents will be explored, demonstrated, and practiced.
