Mrs. Laura Minette Varsamis, LCSW
(She/Her)
Preferred Name: Laura
About Me
My clinical experience began in an intensive outpatient setting, where I worked with individuals experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, and other life challenges. After discovering EMDR therapy, I pursued training as soon as possible and quickly recognized its effectiveness in helping clients process and heal from distressing experiences. EMDR has since become my primary therapeutic modality, particularly in the treatment of trauma and the many challenging experiences that can impact our lives and sense of well-being.
Education & Experience
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater and my Master’s degree in Social Work from Stephen F. Austin State University. My clinical experience includes work in an intensive outpatient program, where I provided individual and group therapy to adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, and other mental health concerns.
I currently practice in private practice, providing psychotherapy exclusively through telehealth. I am trained in EMDR and primarily utilize EMDR in my clinical work, particularly with trauma and other distressing or challenging life experiences.
Professional & Volunteer Affiliations
I have been a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) since 2023.
