Samaria Nancy Cardinal (she/her) is a Blackfoot-Métis woman rooted in Alberta. She carries a deep respect for Indigenous teachings, relational ways of being, and healing as something we return to, season by season. Guided by land, story, and community, she brings a steady, compassionate presence to the spaces she holds, living and working in Calgary while connecting with people across the Prairies and the North.
Education & Experience
Samaria holds a Master of Social Work in Clinical Practice, along with a Diploma and Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. She brings over 20 years of experience in disability, addictions, and mental health, with advanced training in EMDR, DBT, Narrative Therapy, Indigenous-focused oriented therapy, Indigenous Tools for Daily Living, and Wellbriety. Her work integrates stabilization, trauma processing, and practical skills-building with culturally grounded Indigenous frameworks.
Professional & Volunteer Affiliations
Samaria is a Registered Social Worker and a Candidate for RCSW in Alberta and is approved for restricted activities, including psychosocial interventions and supervision of others. She serves on an expert advisory committee with the Mental Health Commission of Canada and has participated in community-based initiatives. She previously served as a council member for the Otipemisiwak Métis Government (Calgary Elbow District 6).
