About Me
I work with adults navigating trauma and complex trauma, grief and loss, and pregnancy and postpartum experiences. I often work where these areas overlap, including pregnancy loss, traumatic birth, or earlier trauma resurfacing during pregnancy or parenthood. I also help clients understand how childhood experiences and relationship patterns continue to affect them. This may include exploring the influence of family, culture, and intergenerational expectations on their sense of safety, identity, and belonging.
My work is depth-oriented, engaged, and active. Together, we look beyond immediate symptoms to understand the experiences and patterns beneath them, including how the past may still be influencing the present. I incorporate EMDR when it may help clients process experiences that continue to feel unresolved.
Education & Experience
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and earned my master’s degree in counseling psychology from the University of Denver in 2009. My professional experience includes work in nonprofit trauma services, addiction treatment, and private practice.
My nonprofit trauma experience includes work at the Fort Bend County Women’s Center, where I worked with survivors of childhood abuse, relationship violence, sexual assault, and other forms of interpersonal trauma. This experience led to a deeper interest in the grief that often accompanies trauma and to additional training in traumatic and generalized grief. My work later expanded to include pregnancy and postpartum mental health, including the emotional and psychological challenges that can arise throughout the perinatal period and at the intersections of trauma, grief, pregnancy, and parenthood.
I completed EMDR basic training through CompassionWorks and additional EMDR training in grief and mourning with Roger Solomon, PhD. I have also completed Postpartum Support International’s Perinatal Mood Disorders: Components of Care and Advanced Perinatal Mental Health Psychotherapy trainings.
