Fertility treatment, pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood are the moments when planning cannot create control or certainty. You did the research. You asked the right questions. And something happened anyway, either despite everything you did to prepare or beyond anything you knew to prepare for.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Perinatal Mental Health provider (PMH-C) in San Francisco. My practice specializes in reproductive and perinatal mental health. That means fertility and family building, IVF and infertility, pregnancy and postpartum anxiety and depression, miscarriage and other pregnancy loss, termination for medical reasons, birth trauma, NICU stays, and the identity and relationship shifts of becoming a parent.

I use EMDR as a primary treatment for birth trauma and reproductive trauma. My EMDR training is specific to this population: basic training through the EMDR Institute and the EMDR-RBT protocol for reproductive and birth trauma with Pria Alpern at the Manhattan Center for Trauma Studies. I also hold the Postgraduate Certificate in Fertility Counseling through the Covington program.

One of the hard things about the perinatal period is that effort and competence do not necessarily protect you, and some problems cannot be solved by apply more pressure or effort. Much of my work is with high-achieving, self-reliant women who are used to solving problems by working harder at them.

I see clients in person in Cow Hollow, virtually throughout California, on walk-and-talk sessions in the Presidio, and in your home during the early postpartum weeks in San Francisco and parts of Marin. My practice is private pay and I provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement.
