About Me
As a woman of color and a Third Culture Kid (TCK), I understand that seeking therapy can be an intimidating process due to fear of being misunderstood. My goal is to ease that anxiety as much as possible through making therapy an enjoyable, enlightening, and healing experience. I use an integrative approach, incorporating trauma informed therapies such as EMDR and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) with other therapies stemming from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Reality Therapy. My approach is rooted in a multicultural and person-centered framework, meaning I work with you to tailor your therapeutic experience so it feels right for you.
Education & Experience
I received by M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Xavier University and my B.A. in Psychology from Ohio University. In addition to my EMDR training, I am also certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and trained in Reality Therapy Internal Family Systems (IFS). I have experience working in hospital, public school, community mental health, and private practice settings. My experience specializing in children and adolescents gives me fresh perspective on me approach to therapy and allows me to make therapy fun for people of all ages.
Professional & Volunteer Affiliations
I currently live in Cairo, Egypt and aim to do additional work with populations here in Egypt, including workshops and volunteer work, in order to deepen my multicultural understanding and broaden my therapeutic framework.
