About Me
Dr. Hughey specializes in trauma-informed care, particularly EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy & Internal Family Systems (IFS), and is an EMDRIA Consultant, providing advanced EMDR services and mentoring other clinicians. Her qualifications also include training in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), solution-focused therapy, and other evidence-based approaches. She is certified as a Clinical Trauma Professional and has specialized training from the National Emergency Responder and Public Safety Center, highlighting her proficiency in working with complex trauma, PTSD, and challenges from high-stress environments.
Education & Experience
Drawing from her personal experiences as a military spouse and 16-year career with the Department of Defense, Dr. Hughey offers a unique and compassionate perspective. She is particularly attuned to the needs of active-duty service members, veterans, military spouses, DoD civilians, contractors, and first responders, integrating cultural sensitivity and a deep understanding of their unique pressures. Dr. Hughey is passionate about working with individuals navigating PTSD, complex PTSD, and multi-layered trauma. Her therapeutic methods are guided by the latest research and best practices, ensuring compassionate, effective, and personalized care. Through Coastal Wellness, Dr. Hughey empowers those affected by trauma to reclaim their strength and well-being.
