About Me
Building Bridges through EMDR Consultation for LGBTQ+, Spirituality, & Dissociative Experiences
Rev. Karla Fleshman (they/she) is a gender non-conforming, queer EMDR therapist and approved consultant. Additionally, they are also Ordained Clergy who identify as an irreverent reverend approaching both life and consultation/training from a person-centered, intersectional, anti-oppression paradigm. Karla has over 35 years of clinical mental health experience within the treatment of complex-PTSD, developmental trauma, spirituality/religious trauma, medical trauma and dissociative experiences. When they step away from clinical training and consultations, they enjoy hiking with their spouse, creating Lego builds, and centering their energy with their understanding of the Divine through yoga and meditation. Karla earned the following EMDRIA-Approved credentials: EMDR Trained in 2019, Certified in 2020, Approved Consultant in 2026, and Advanced Certification in Dissociation/EMDR in 2024 through the Institute for Creative Mindfulness. They are licensed in DE and PA. They hold professional membership with EMDRIA, WPATH, ISSTD, and CSWA.
LGBTQ+ folx are at increased risk for experiencing intersectional trauma, including yet not limited to socioeconomic marginalization, racial discrimination, religious abuse, and ableism. These compounding trauma exposures can amplify psychological distress and heighten reliance on dissociative coping mechanisms.
