About Me

Please note (as of 9/1/26): My openings are Wednesdays and Thursdays, typically during the daytime hours. Please inquire only if those spaces match your availability, too.

Hi! I'm Kate (she/they) and I am a neurodiverse, queer, cisgender woman of European-Scandinavian descent, a lifelong Vermonter, as well as a licensed clinical social worker (LICSW) and EMDR Certified therapist. I operate Rooted & Rising, LLC where I serve as a trauma therapist and healthcare consultant. I live in northern Vermont with my darling spouse and our kitty, Luna. In my downtime I enjoy all things reading/writing (I'm currently working on a novel), various crafts, cook/baking, TTRPGs (Table Top Role Playing Games, like D&D), videogames, time by the water, travel, and spending time with loved ones.

In my private practice, I support individuals, and couples, seeking to improve their well-being as well as address symptoms of personal & cultural trauma (namely: anxiety, depression, pervasive- & post-traumatic stress, as well as navigating challenges related to attachment & adjustment, identity & belonging, and grief & loss). While I get to support a wide spectrum of folks, I tend to specialize in supporting members of the 2SLGBTQ+ communities, neurodiverse folks, and those living with chronic illnesses and/or disabilities. I also have a subspecialty in supporting people impacted by pandemic trauma, including "long haulers", aka people with Long COVID (note: as of 2026, estimates suggest between 16-20% of people who contract COVID develop Long COVID).

My services are tailored to each person’s unique goals & strengths, while remaining rooted by trauma- and attachment-informed approaches, human rights, social justice, as well as intersectional and anti-oppressive care. While EMDR is usually the main modality most of my clients seek out in our work, I also tend to weave in techniques from somatic practices as well as therapies like Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative, Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior (DBT). Clients most often give the feedback that my style comes across as informal while professional and engaged, caring, curious, and collaborative. Above all, I believe that to make the changes we will do it together through relationships built on trust, empathy, authenticity (and a good bit of humor). I appreciate you taking the time to reach out, and welcome questions as we explore any next steps together.
