I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 30 years of experience supporting first responders, professionals, and caregivers in high-stress environments.
Education & Experience
I earned my Master of Social Work from UNC-Chapel Hill and Bachelor of Arts from Duke University. Work experiences include: Current: Mental Health Clinician with the NC Responder Assistance Initiative, delivering trauma-informed care and critical incident support to public safety personnel across North Carolina. Current: Founder and Therapist at REEL Therapy, providing individualized care to high-performing professionals and caregivers seeking resilience, performance, and emotional regulation tools. Resilience Trainer with the UCLA FOCUS Project, working with military families aboard USMC installations to enhance family functioning and coping skills. Clinical Supervisor, mentoring LCSW Associates since 2012 in ethical, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed care. Earlier roles include work in community mental health, school-based services, maternal health, and pediatric HIV support at Duke, as well as residential treatment in Apia, Samoa.

Kim actively volunteers as a Clinical Consultant with the NC First Responder Peer Support Team (since 2018), offering clinical guidance, training, and debriefing support following critical incidents.
