About Me

My name is Joy and I have been working as a therapist for the past 9 years. In this time I have worked with those along the entire lifespan. I noticed a common theme. Healing from past experiences and a desire to develop some self acceptance. Having been trained a multiple trauma treatment modalities I was thrilled when I learned about EMDR. It finally felt like there was a pathway to the healing my clients so desired. In addition to my professional experience I have years of my own life experiences as a single mother to a teen with AuDHD. Due to this and my own ADHD I have focused a lot of my research on supporting those with neurodivergence. I am also a passionate ally o the LGBTQIA+ community and NeuroQueer community. I believe deeply that if we can look at ourselves and how our experiences shaped our stories we can be free from those stories that no longer serve us while simultaneously empowering those stories within us so desperately needing to be told.

Education & Experience

I obtained my BSW and MSW at Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts. I am currently in a Doctorate in Social Work Program at Simmons University studying the intersection of neurodiversity, LGBTQIA+ experience and trauma.
