Laura Dickson, LCSW
About Me
I am a Certified EMDR Therapist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of clinical experience and approximately 25 years of involvement in the EMDR community.
My long-standing involvement with EMDR has included serving as an EMDRIA Approved Consultant, an EMDR training facilitator, and for 10 years as EMDRIA Regional Coordinator for Los Angeles County, organizing educational and professional events for the EMDR community.
In my private practice, I specialize in working with adults experiencing anxiety, panic, trauma, relationship difficulties, and the effects of difficult or overwhelming life experiences. I also have particular experience working with people affected by loss, major life transitions, natural disasters, and other highly stressful experiences.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and individualized. I believe effective therapy involves more than simply understanding why a problem exists. Our work is focused on identifying what may be keeping you stuck and helping you create meaningful change.
I integrate EMDR with other therapeutic approaches according to each client's individual needs and goals. My extensive experience with EMDR allows me to thoughtfully determine when and how it can be most helpful as part of treatment.
Finding the right therapist is an important decision. If you are looking for an experienced therapist and believe my approach may be a good fit, I welcome you to contact me to discuss working together.
