About Me
I going to show up as my authentic self! I had to learn how to love and accept her... ALL of her. For me, healing is deeply personal, and I believe it happens best when people feel seen, respected, and safe enough to bring their whole selves into the room.
As a Black woman and Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 25 years of experience, I understand that our stories are shaped not only by individual experiences but also by culture, family systems, identity, community, and the environments we navigate every day. My work is rooted in cultural humility and the belief that effective trauma therapy honors each person's lived experience rather than asking them to fit into a one-size-fits-all model of healing.
Education & Experience
My path into mental health wasn't a straight line, and I believe that journey has made me a more compassionate therapist. I began my education by earning an Associate of Arts degree in Business Administration before discovering my passion for understanding people and pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Social Work.
Over the past 25+ years, I've had the privilege of supporting individuals and families in hospital settings, community-based agencies, and private practice. Beyond direct clinical work, I've also enjoyed mentoring the next generation of clinicians as both an adjunct professor and clinical supervisor.
I believe learning never stops. I continue to expand my knowledge through advanced training in trauma treatment, including EMDR, Brainspotting, mindfulness, and other integrative approaches that support healing of the mind, body, and nervous system.
Professional & Volunteer Affiliations
My commitment to healing extends beyond the therapy room. I currently serve as a Board Member and Chair of Board Development for Youth Outlook, where I support the organization's mission of serving LGBTQ+ youth and their families. I am also a Resiliency and Mind-Body Facilitator with the American Red Cross, helping communities strengthen emotional resilience following disasters and crises. Additionally, I serve as the National Community Service Coordinator for Alpha Chi Epsilon Sigma Social Work Sorority, Inc., where I promote service, leadership, and professional development within the social work profession.
