Education & Experience

Charlene is a Registered Psychologist with the Yukon Registrar (3630-20-32-003) and the College of Alberta Psychologists (#4412), a Registered/Certified Play Therapist - Supervisor (CAPT CPTS-YT-2844, APT #S3053), and a certified Foundational Theraplay Practitioner. She has completed her Level I training in Animal Assisted Play Therapy. She is also a member of the Canadian Psychological Association, Psychological Society of Yukon, Association for Play Therapy, and Theraplay Institute. She holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Calgary in School and Applied Child Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts, Honours from the University of Victoria. She is trained and certified in both play therapy and theraplay, is trained in psycho-educational assessment, child-parent relationships, expressive therapies, and motivational interviewing and has experience with cognitive-behaviour therapy. She is also an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) trained therapist, with Child Specialist certification. Charlene has training and experience in helping parents and caregivers build stronger attachments with their children.
