Susan Thompson, LCSW
About Me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes healing is possible for everyone. I use EMDR therapy to help individuals work through trauma, anxiety, grief, and other painful experiences that may feel “stuck.” My approach is compassionate and collaborative, creating a safe space where you feel supported and respected. Together, we’ll focus on building coping skills, uncovering your strengths, and moving toward the life you want to create.
Education & Experience
I earned my Master of Social Work degree from Barry University in Florida and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida. I completed EMDRIA-approved training in EMDR therapy and am currently on track to obtain certification. I have provided care in a variety of settings, including community mental health, inpatient substance use treatment facilities, and private practice. My professional development includes additional training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Trauma-Informed Care, and Human Trafficking. These experiences allow me to bring a well-rounded, trauma-informed approach to supporting clients on their healing journey.
Professional & Volunteer Affiliations
I am an active member of the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). I am also honored to serve on the Governing Board of Directors for Treasure Coast Community Health (TCCH), a federally qualified health center dedicated to providing accessible healthcare services to the community. In addition, I participate in local outreach efforts to support individuals in recovery and survivors of trauma. These professional and volunteer roles allow me to stay connected to both the clinical field and the communities I serve, which informs and enriches my work as a therapist.
