Meagan Stiff, CCC, CT, RN
About Me
I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (C.C.C.), Counselling Therapist with the Association of Counselling Therapy of Alberta (ACTA), and a Registered Nurse (RN). I enjoy practicing from multiple modalities including accelerated resolution therapy (ART), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), expressive arts therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), mindfulness and therapeutic play. I particularly enjoy utilizing the expressive arts in my work with children as it can be a means of non-verbal expression, exploration and emotional processing and provides a way of communicating things that are difficult to verbalize. I believe in approaching counselling from a collaborative, person-centered, strength-based, trauma-informed lens.
Education & Experience
I have a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and a Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a minor in child studies. I have worked in the mental health field in a variety of settings and with individuals of all ages. I am passionate about working with children and adolescents as well as individuals who have experienced trauma and outside of my university education, have pursued further education in therapeutic approaches specific to trauma processing.
