Tanya Sperman, LCSW

About Me

My name is Tanya Sperman, LCSW, and I am a psychotherapist in Miami, Florida. I am a licensed clinical social worker specializing in children, adolescents, and family psychotherapy. I am also EMDR-trained, integrating this evidence-based approach into my work to help clients process and heal from traumatic experiences. With over 18 years of experience as a psychotherapist, I am dedicated to helping children, teens, families, and adults navigate their unique challenges through the transformative power of play. My practice is rooted in the belief that play is a vital avenue for healing, self-discovery, and connection. Synergetic Play Therapy combines the principles of play therapy with a deep understanding of attachment, neuroscience, and relational dynamics. This approach fosters a safe environment where individuals can explore their emotions, build resilience, and develop healthier relationships. I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients, including children in foster care and immigrant families. I understand the complexities and nuances of their experiences, and I strive to create a compassionate and inclusive space for healing. Whether it’s addressing trauma, navigating cultural transitions, or fostering family connections, I am committed to meeting each individual where they are. A Personal Touch As a wife and mom of two, I bring a personal understanding of the joys and complexities of family life. My experiences as a parent enrich my practice, allowing me to connect deeply with families and individuals. I believe that everyone has the potential to heal and grow, and I am committed to guiding you on your journey. Who I Work With Children & Teens: Supporting young clients in expressing their feelings and developing coping strategies. Families: Enhancing communication and strengthening relationships within the family unit. Adults: Encouraging personal growth and healing through playful exploration.

Education & Experience

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida International University and a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Barry University. My career began as a mental health case manager, followed by work as a child therapist at a foster care agency. I then served as a clinician for unaccompanied minors arriving from the border before opening and currently operating my own private practice.
