EMDRIA member Dawn Pendleton, LMFT shared her knowledge of EMDR therapy in this news brief celebrating her new practice which specializes in serving the LGBTQIA+ community. Pendleton states “With the right tools to support it, the brain’s natural healing process is a very powerful thing.”
Dr. Deborah Korn, PsyD, EMDRIA member, is interviewed in The Verywell Mind Podcast “Healing From Trauma With EMDR Therapy With Authors Michael Baldwin and Deborah Korn, PsyD.” Dr. Korn and her co-author discuss their book “Every Memory Deserves Respect,” EMDR therapy, and how EMDR treatment helped Michael in his life. Dr. Korn talks about EMDR: “It’s about moving the past into the past so one can live more fully in the present.”
EMDRIA Member Danielle Brown, LCSW is mentioned as a resource in this Upworthy article “10-year-old Uvalde shooting survivor is healing with the help of an innovative therapy method.” Brown is cited “[EMDR] does not erase the memory, but rather it helps in reprocessing and reintegrating them with more positive associations so that the memory does not trigger the same emotional or physiological response witnessed with PTSD.”
Dr. Carol Cole, PsyD, EMDRIA member, is featured on a Close Up Radio preview here discussing trauma, loss, her own life, and EMDR. “When given the opportunity, our brains have a remarkable resiliency and drive towards adaptive emotional health. EMDR provides this opportunity, and does so safely, efficiently, and effectively” she states in the interview.
EMDRIA members Reg Morrow Robinson, Ed.S., LMFT, LMHC and Bill Brislin, LMHC discuss “providing front-line treatment to local medical workers and emergency responders” within their EMDR communities in this article. They share a link to the New York Times article “I Can’t Turn My Brain Off: PTSD and Burnout Threaten Medical Workers” written in the 2020 thick of the pandemic and calls out the helpful EMDR response for healthcare workers at that time.
