The EMDR International Association (EMDRIA™) is an organization dedicated to the treatment and prevention of psychological trauma. Guided by our commitment to Creating Global Healing, Health, and Hope, we support clinicians who serve individuals and communities affected by trauma in all its forms—including first responders, survivors of violence and disaster, and those impacted by instability, fear, and loss of safety within their communities.
We recognize that trauma is not only caused by discrete events, but also by conditions that erode a sense of security, trust, and belonging. We believe governmental authorities carry a profound responsibility to reduce risk of harm and to lead in ways that promote physical and psychological safety for all people. Compassion, fairness, and a commitment to human dignity are essential components of trauma-informed communities.
In alignment with these values, EMDRIA will observe a half-day office closure on Friday (1/30/2026) in solidarity with therapists and others participating in a National Day of Action centered on preventing harm and supporting community well-being. Our position is rooted in our mission and our enduring commitment to the welfare of those impacted by trauma worldwide.
We remain dedicated to supporting our members and the critical work they do every day to foster healing, resilience, and hope.
