EMDR therapy research is featured in this British Psychological Society blog “BPS Journals – Top Ten Most Viewed Articles of 2025” and points to this Simpson et al., 2025 article “Clinical and Cost-Effectiveness of EMDR for Treatment and Preention of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder in Adults: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.” This systematic review of RCTs and cost-effectiveness studies assessed PTSD symptoms in adults, published since the NICE 2018 guidelines. EMDR was compared with TF-CBT, waitlist, or usual care. EMDR treatment was generally of shorter duration with a lower burden on patient time.
Military.com article “EMDR: The PTSD Treatment Many Veterans Don’t Know the VA Offers” discusses the benefits of EMDR therapy “but not enough veterans know to ask for it.” The article encourages veterans to learn more about it and ask for EMDR therapy.
Singer Lily Allen shares that she uses EMDR therapy “about my spending… how it’s related to my sense of self-worth… I started doing EMDR five months ago, it’s been life-changing. I absolutely love it…” in this Metro article. She and EMDR therapy share space again in this Star article: ‘For Lily, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy helped address underlying trauma. The combo of eye movements and talk therapy has been ‘life changing,’ she said.”
This HuffPost article “My Wife Died from A Brain Tumor. I Thought I’d Never Recover – Until 4 Words Changed My Life” shares a powerful personal healing experience from the traumatic grief of losing a life partner with EMDR therapy. The article reveals the four words: “You Should Try EMDR.”
EMDR therapy’s efficacy for PTSD in veterans is highlighted in World Defence SSB CrackNews article “VA Endorses EMDR as Effective PTSD Treatment for Veterans.”
EMDRIA member Bonnie Rumilly, LCSW writes about the struggles of emergency medical service (EMS) providers and first resonders in this Journal of Emergency Medical Services article “Why are EMS providers struggling?”
In VANews article “Homeless Veteran Gains Stability and Starts Non-Profit to Help Veterans,” veteran Esther Frias tells her story about receiving help from a VA homeless program as well as therapy services offered by the VA, including EMDR, that helped her heal, regain her footing, and launch her own nonprofit.
Grammy award-winning country artist Ashley McBryde’s newest music video for single What If We Don’t features a flashback during an EMDR therapy session. The iHeartCountry article “Ashley McBryde dares others ‘to live without regret’ in powerful story” goes on to say the music video is “inspired by a true story… and tells a “gut-wrenching tale (that) depicts a story of young love and friendship.”
YaleMedicine blog “Heart Condition? The Psychologist Will See You Now” points to EMDR therapy as a helpful mental health treatment in this article about the link between mental health and physical (heart) health.
EMDR therapy hits the big screen in the movie See You When I See You. This Playlist review shares that the main character is seen in his EMDR therapy sessions and states the film draws inspiration from the real-life tragedy endured by screenwriter Adam Cayton-Holland, who adapted the screenplay from his comic memoir, Tragedy Plus Time.
The Anxiety & Depression Association of America features EMDR therapy in a video and webpage “What is EMDR?” sharing that EMDR is helpful for anxiety and depression as well as PTSD and traumatic incidents.
EMDR therapy is back on Harvard Health in “What is EMDR Therapy, And Who Can it Help?” Note this is for Harvard Heath subscribers only.
Actress Parvathy Thiruvothu shares how helpful EMDR therapy was for her in The Times of India article “Parvathy Thiruvothu on Loneliness, Suicidal Thoughts and How EMDR Therapy Changed Her Life.” India Today also writes about Parvathy’s healing journey.
EMDR therapy shows up in film again as reported by Stars and Stripes article “‘Sheepdog’ Brings Veterans Stories and Post-Service Struggles to Light” which reviews the movie about a military veteran and the lives of the “medical professionals and therapists who dedicate their lives to helping them heal.” EMDR therapy is depicted in the film.
EMDRIA member Tabitha Johnson, LMFT was interviewed in Las Vegas Review-Journal article “Using A New Year to Envision a New Version of Ourselves” which discusses New Year’s resolutions. Johnson shares, “EMDR is probably one of my most favorite topics to share with clients, friends and loved ones. I was fortunate enough to be trained in EMDR, along with several other clinicians, after the Route 91 mass shooting.”
Is financial spending addiction something EMDR therapy can treat? This YahooFinance article “A Single Mom Uses Trauma Therapy to Curb Compulsive Spending” reports that a recent interview on The Ramsey Show asks a woman to share her story, which includes EMDR for the trauma that was driving this behavior.
