UK-based article “Social and Economic Deprivation Associated With More Severe Symptoms of PTSD” in Medical Xpress reports on recent research led by the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King’s College London and University of Southampton and published in the European Journal of Psychotraumatology. Patients in the study were offered up to 20 sessions of trauma therapy (either TF-CBT or EMDR therapy per NHS guidelines). The study outcome found that people experiencing greater socioeconomic hardship experienced more severe symptoms and less improvement at the end of treatment.
