Core Competencies in EMDR Consultation

This course introduces core competencies in EMDR consultation. It will provide information on key aspects of the framework for EMDRIA Approved Consultants™, which includes the following:

• The foundation for the framework;
• Knowledge, skill, and attitude competencies; and
• The evaluation framework.

This framework supports reflective, ethical, cultural, and developmentally responsive consultation.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, a consultant will:

1. Identify key aspects that serve as the framework for EMDR consultation (i.e., Therapeutic/Consultation Alliance, Cultural Humility/Ethics/IDEA).
2. Recognize and examine key aspects of consultant knowledge as part of the consultant evaluation framework (i.e., General Therapeutic Skills, EMDR Therapy Skills, Consultation Skills, Teaching Skills, Attitudes – Intrapersonal/Interpersonal.
3. Use self-assessment questions to review and revise their consultation practice to plan for professional growth and development.

Target Audience & Instructional Level

• An intermediate course for EMDRIA Approved Consultants in Training™ (CITs) under the updated EMDRIA Approved Consultant™ Standards.

CE Credits

• 1.5 EMDRIA CE credits offered upon successful completion of all course requirements, including final assessment (with passing score of 80%).
• Final assessment & course evaluation is outside of hours offered for completion of program.

• This course is part of the initial EMDRIA Approved Consultant™ application, and all CIT applicants (applying under the updated standards) will be required to complete the course at no additional cost.
• We encourage our current consultants to complete the course to stay aligned with the updated standards and expectations.
• Current consultants will have complimentary access to the courses through December 31, 2026. After this date, the courses will remain available for purchase.
