About Me
Adam Horn is a psychotherapist and the founder of Strength to Strength Counseling Services, a private practice in Nashville, TN. He has over 30 years experience in the mental health field, and has been licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and an American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) Clinical Fellow for over 25 years. Locally, he is a state-division clinical member of the Tennessee Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (TNAMFT), and is a full clinical member with the Nashville Psychotherapy Institute (NPI). He is an EMDR certified therapist. Since 2011, Adam has been an AAMFT Approved Clinical Supervisor for post-master’s LMFT and LPC candidates in Tennessee and California. He also serves as a mentor to licensed psychotherapists seeking the Approved Clinical Supervisor designation.
Education & Experience
Prior to 2016, Adam served as Chief Quality Officer and Clinical Director with Tennessee Voices for Children (TVC). Before joining TVC in 2009, Adam was the Quality Assurance Manager & Clinical Trainer with Volunteers of America Western Washington, Care Crisis Response Services, where he also served as a Supervising Mental Health Professional for the regional crisis and suicide hotline. Before that, Adam served as Division Director of School-Based Services for Fred Finch Youth Center, a private non-profit that provides mental health and family services in Oakland, California. In addition to his Tennessee State LMFT license, Adam is also a licensed LMFT in California, and has an inactive LMFT license in good standing in Washington State. Adam received his Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Hahnemann/Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA in 1993. This graduate program is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE).
Professional & Volunteer Affiliations
Adam served as Board Treasurer with the Tennessee Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (TNAMFT) from 2013 – 2015, where he has also served on the President Elect’s Task Force. Adam now serves as President on the executive board of his house-of-worship. Adam has an extensive background in crisis and suicide prevention and intervention. He has been a certified trainer with Applied Suicide Intention Skills Training (ASIST) and with the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Skills training. Adam serves as a Captain in the Medical Services Corp with the Tennessee State Guard. He was recently awarded a Commendation Medal and Individual Achievement Ribbon for Meritorious Service while deployed as a Behavioral Health Officer with the TN Army National Guard, Joint Medical Task Force, as a part of the COVID-19 mission.
