About Me

Neuro Nuance Therapy and EMDR, PLLC is an EMDR-primary psychotherapy practice in Austin, TX, founded by Alex Penrod, MS, LPC, LCDC. We provide EMDR therapy for adults experiencing a wide range of trauma-related concerns, including PTSD, distress following painful or overwhelming experiences, traumatic grief, complex trauma (C-PTSD), dissociation, and trauma-related substance use patterns.

EMDR is the primary treatment approach at Neuro Nuance. Care is individualized and may incorporate ego state therapy, Internal Family Systems-informed interventions, attachment-focused work, and dissociation-informed preparation when clinically appropriate. These approaches support readiness, stability, and effective trauma processing rather than replacing EMDR as the central modality.

Alex has more than a decade of experience in behavioral health, including outpatient and residential trauma and addiction treatment. He works with adults beginning EMDR for the first time as well as those seeking a more carefully adapted approach after previous therapy.
