Allison Grodinsky, BSW, MSW, RSW
(She/Her)
Preferred Name: Allison
About Me
I am a bilingual Registered Social Worker and the founder of Renew Resilience Counselling in Ottawa, Ontario. I provide psychotherapy to individuals aged 14 and older, with a particular focus on trauma, complex trauma, and the ways past experiences can continue to affect our thoughts, emotions, relationships, and sense of self.
My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I take a holistic perspective, recognizing that our mental health is shaped by interconnected biological, psychological, and social factors. I work collaboratively with each client to better understand the root of their struggles, develop greater awareness and emotional regulation, and create meaningful, lasting change.
As an EMDR-trained clinician, I incorporate EMDR therapy when appropriate, alongside other evidence-based approaches tailored to each client's needs. I believe therapy should be a space where clients feel safe, respected, and empowered to move toward healing at their own pace.
Education & Experience
I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Social Sciences with a specialization in Social Work and a minor in Women’s Studies. As a Registered Social Worker (RSW) and member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), I am committed to practicing with integrity, accountability, and ongoing professional development.
My work is grounded in empathy, respect, honesty, and collaboration. I believe therapy should be a space where you feel safe to be yourself, speak openly, and explore your experiences without judgment. From our first conversation, my goal is to build a genuine therapeutic relationship where you feel heard, understood, and supported.
I also believe that our struggles do not exist in isolation. Our mental health can be shaped by our experiences, relationships, physical health, environment, and the systems around us. I take a holistic, trauma-informed approach that considers the whole person rather than viewing challenges as personal flaws.
