About Me
Hello, and welcome. I’m Angela, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and EMDR Certified therapist. I work with adults who are ready for something to change but may not fully understand why they feel stuck. You may be functioning on the outside while struggling internally with anxiety, depression, overwhelming emotions, low self-confidence, relationship patterns, the effects of trauma, or a sense that you have somehow lost connection with yourself.
Often, the people I work with are insightful and self-aware. You may already understand where some of your struggles come from and have tried to think, talk, or reason your way through them. Yet knowing *why* you feel or respond a certain way doesn't always make it possible to respond differently. Sometimes the roots of our struggles are deeper than conscious understanding alone can reach.
This is where my approach to therapy comes in.
I use EMDR as an important part of my work to help clients process experiences that continue to influence how they feel, think, behave, and relate to themselves and others. While EMDR is often associated with significant or obvious trauma, I also work with the ways less-recognized experiences can shape our beliefs about ourselves and our relationships. The goal isn't simply to revisit the past. It is to help you become less controlled by it so that you have greater freedom in how you experience the present.
My work is informed by trauma therapy, somatic principles, Ego State and parts work, and depth psychology. I am particularly interested in the connections between our emotional experiences, our bodies, our relationships, and the patterns that develop over time. Sometimes what looks like anxiety, self-doubt, emotional reactivity, avoidance, or difficulty trusting yourself is connected to something deeper. Together, we can become curious about those patterns rather than judging them, creating space for greater understanding, self-compassion, and change.
I believe therapy should be both compassionate and honest. You don't need to arrive with everything figured out, and you don't need to have a perfect explanation for why you're struggling. My role is not to tell you who you should be, but to help you better understand yourself, process what has shaped you, and develop the freedom to move toward the life and relationships you want.
I also believe that meaningful healing is not about becoming a different person. It is about becoming more fully yourself. As old experiences and beliefs become less powerful, there can be more room for self-trust, authenticity, connection, and choice.
I provide therapy entirely through secure telehealth and work with adults located in Ohio and Kentucky, with telehealth privileges in Florida. My additional training includes Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Motivational Interviewing, Somatic Experiencing, and Ego State work.
If you are considering EMDR or simply know that something in your life needs to change, I welcome the opportunity to talk with you. Finding the right therapist matters, and a consultation can give us the opportunity to explore what you're looking for and whether my approach may be a good fit for you.
