About Me
Hi, I’m Anne James, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in San Marcos, California. I work with adults and couples navigating trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions. My approach focuses on understanding the patterns that shape how we relate to ourselves and others, and creating space for meaningful change.
I am trained in EMDR and have completed advanced training in R-TEP and G-TEP for recent traumatic events, as well as EMDR for complex trauma. I integrate EMDR with parts-informed work and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy to support both individual healing and relational connection.
In our work together, we focus on processing experiences, understanding emotional patterns, and shifting the cycles that keep you feeling stuck. I work with trauma, C-PTSD, neurodivergence including ADHD and autism, and chronic pain and illness, and support both individuals and couples in building greater clarity, emotional safety, and connection.

Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling, Point Loma Nazarene University
Completed practicum training at an outpatient PTSD clinic, working with military, veterans, first responders, and the general population. This experience continues to inform my work with trauma and the importance of pacing, safety, and depth in the therapeutic process.
I have worked in private practice since that time, where I focus on going deeper with clients while respecting where they are, where they want to go, and their individual pace. In working with trauma survivors, I value slowing things down in individual therapy to support meaningful and lasting change.
