She specializes in treating individuals with an eclectic approach toward psychotherapy, recognizing that each client is unique and has individual needs. Her therapeutic style incorporates concepts from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) framework, including EMDR, AIP model, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Solution Focused Therapy. Her approach is insight-oriented with the goal of assisting the client toward resolving the current conflict in their life. Her scope of practice includes symptom awareness in mood disorders, social-emotional regulation, life transitions, trauma, PTSD, to improve relationships and grief and loss. April has gained experience working with individuals of all ages in clinical and crisis settings. April is dedicated to connecting with her clients, providing overall wellness skills and reducing the stigma of mental health through an effective therapeutic approach. April has spent years working as a crisis clinician, which has allowed her to gain extensive knowledge in risk assessment and determining the appropriate level of care for patients in crisis. The co-response setting is also where I developed my passion for working with Law Enforcement and First Responders. I have found that my variety of career experiences has led me to be the counselor that I am today and that my practice offers clients a unique therapeutic experience. April believes personal growth and change happens when the counseling process is purposeful and intentional. My experience has involved helping people understand their problems, define goals, and develop realistic action plans. I truly believe that combining the key aspects of a variety of treatment modalities will best meet the needs of the client.
