About Me

I’m April De Higes, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 25 years of experience. My journey has taken me through various settings, from schools to outpatient clinics, residential programs, foster care, adoption, and supervisory roles in multiple non-profit agencies. I work with children, teens, and adults in individual, couples, and family therapy, addressing a spectrum of issues like grief and loss, parent-child problems, communication problems, depression, anxiety, marital conflicts, ADHD, and trauma/PTSD.

As a teenager, I grappled with anger until a compassionate therapist helped me uncover its roots. I was struggling with the grief and the loss of several family members. This personal revelation ignited my passion for family counseling. I aim to assist individuals within families understand the “why” behind their emotions, fostering an understanding, and helping them build stronger relationships.
