Brant Thomsen, LICSW
About Me
The thing about EMDR with Brant is the balance between directness and caution. There is no avoiding the tough stuff. His approach is carefully paced to ensure a safe experience that fosters learning & provides lifelong benefit. EMDR is difficult work, but extremely effective when approached with intention, focus, and skill.
Education & Experience
Brant has been in the field for over 25 years and has had his own practice for 6 years. While in undergraduate studies he discovered that counseling, psychology, and mental health were a true calling. It was in clinical social work that Brant realized he is most effective and passionate. As an EMDR therapist Brant has more than 10,000 sessions under his belt, with special interests in working with spiritual and religious trauma, clergy, performing artists, medical professionals, and educators. In the summer of 2025 newly trained and certified in the Safe and Sound Protocol. This is an advanced listening therapy using specially filtered music to 'retune' the nervous system. This integrates can integrate nicely with EMDR, especially when there is fear and anxiety that needs to be understood and cared for before reprocessing happens.
