About Me
I am married and have a 5 year old son and live in Virginia Beach, where I am in private practice. I currently see adults and children with attachment trauma or wounding, anxiety disorders, behavioral challenges, and dissociative presentations. I have extensive pre-clinical experience in advocacy work for individuals with a history of domestic and sexual violence. I integrate IFS, play therapy (for children), expressive arts, and somatic/mindfulness interventions with EMDR therapy to support holistic healing and mental wellbeing. I incorporate parents in children's therapy as needed throughout the process.
Education & Experience
I earned my Masters of Science in Counseling Education at Stetson University. Prior to my clinical career I taught preschool in the Reggio Amelia tradition, and worked as a children's advocate at a domestic and sexual violence agency for 7 years. I facilitated art workshops for children in a domestic violence shelter, which fueled my desire to become a professional counselor. During graduate school I worked independently on trainings toward my play therapy certification. For my practicum and internship I worked with college students in a university counseling setting, where I gained a passion for working with individuals within the LGBTQ+ community. After graduate school I sought licensure hours while providing play therapy to children in the child welfare system in Jacksonville, FL. I then counseled for a year in a group practice, before moving with my family and transitioning to solo practice in Virginia Beach, VA. I enjoy working with children and their families, and also enjoy the variety of working with adults throughout the lifespan. I have experience working with adults going through life transitions, navigating stress and triggers related to developmental trauma, and with new mothers coping with postpartum distress.
Professional & Volunteer Affiliations
I have been an advocate for women and children finding safety and peace from domestic violence for over a decade.
I help with gardening projects in my local neighborhood.
I participate in Moms Demand Action events, advocating for safe schools, and increased social support/childcare affordability for families
