About Me

Carlos Martinez is a Licensed Specialized Clinical Social Worker. He is fluent in spoken Spanish. He received his bachelor degree from Biola University in California. After completing his Bachelor’s degree he worked with Child Abuse Prevention Center as a caseworker partnered with a therapist, where he learned he wanted to further pursue becoming a therapist. He attended and graduated from Azusa Pacific University in Social Worker with an emphasis in clinical social work. After completing his Master’s degree he worked with Foothill Family, in California, and was a school/home based therapist providing mental health treatment for children and their families for 5 years. In 2015, he moved to Washington and worked at Sea Mar Behavioral Health and rounded out his experience by working with adults for 3 years before moving to Kansas and has been practicing for 3 years.

Education & Experience

Carlos entered the field in order to share with others the life-changing power of being in therapy, learning about oneself, and making decisions to change one’s way of interacting with the world. His therapeutic approach is focused on cognitive behavioral therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy. Carlos has experience in treating: depression, anxiety, trauma related disorders, and behavioral problems. Carlos was recently trained Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is a form of treatment to assist with complex trauma and managing stress better. His style can be described as engaging, creative and solutions focused. He wants to share what he has learned and considers it a joy to do so. He also considers it a privilege and honor to be a part of the change process for others.
