About Me
Hi, I’m Carolyn. I’m a Biracial Trauma Therapist, former professional athlete, and ongoing recoveree of complex trauma. I grew up feeling alone and thinking I was THE problem. I chased one self-worth affirming activity, achievement, person, career, etc… after the other (Trauma bond addictions), until I realized that the problem wasn’t me, rather the early mind-muscle-memory MEANINGS of what it meant for me, a creative neurodivergent kiddo with no culturally-relatable role models, to be raised by two loving, Ivy league educated tiger parents, in world where living in the grey area seemed underrepresented, and existing stereotypes for Asian American women involved being hypersexualized or ignored.
Education & Experience
I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Boston University in 2015. I earned my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Florida Gulf Coast University in 2019. I have been practicing EMDR Certified Therapy for almost two years now and have particular interest in working with complex traumatic belief systems that have resulted in adult attachment issues, SPECIFIC needs behind process additions, healthy identity integration for people of mixed race and cultural backgrounds (BIPOC), patterns of generational trauma, and grieve & loss of roles/ jobs/ identities/ lifestyles.
