Mrs. Catherine Crompton McEnderfer, LICSW
(She and Her )
About Me
I am psychodynamic trained, which means to look at both internal and external patterns and currents in a person’s life that can create difficulty. Over the years my approach is much more eclectic to include cognitive behavioral therapy, art and narrative therapy, dialectal behavior therapy skills, EMDR, etc. I incorporate evidence-based therapies but also believe that while something may be right for 99% of people, it really doesn’t matter if you are the one percent. We must work together towards your goals, finding what works for you. Ultimately, I believe therapy is a space for grace. Understanding and Compassion to come to terms with ourselves, our pasts and our strengths and weaknesses. I believe that when someone comes to me for help, that I am there to make sure they get the help they need, which may be with another provider. It is through open dialogue that we will discover if I am a good match for you and your needs.
Education & Experience
I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Whitworth University in Spokane, WA, and my master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Smith College in Northampton, MA. As part of my master’s degree, I completed over 2,000 hours of supervised training providing therapy in an outpatient agency to children, adolescents, and adults in the modalities of individual, marital, family and group therapy for a year and at Cornell Medical Center on an inpatient psychiatric unit for the second year. I have a total of forty-four years of experience in the field with thirty-seven of those at the master’s level.
