Mrs. Christen Bales, LCSW
(She/Her/Hers)
Preferred Name: Christen
About Me
I have been providing therapy for over eight years, specializing in treating trauma primarily using EMDR therapy. I have worked with clients with trauma ranging from gun violence, child and/or adult sexual trauma, complex childhood trauma, motor vehicle accidents, painful loss, domestic violence, emotional abuse, and life-threatening illness, among many others. In EMDR, we first focus on building up the skills you need to manage symptoms before moving into processing past memories to make sure they do not control your present or your future. Rather than being influenced by negative thoughts and beliefs about ourselves and the world that often arise out of trauma, we will work towards finding healthier ways of understanding what you have been through and what possibilities await you. I became a therapist because I know trauma can happen to anyone, but the struggle does not have to define your life. I take a collaborative approach, recognizing you as the expert on your life and using my tools to find your unique path towards healing. I truly believe, and have seen countless times, that recovery from trauma is possible.
