About Me

My name is Danielle Mendez, and I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) board certified psychotherapist, independently licensed in the state of Texas (LPC 84604). I have been practicing psychotherapy since obtaining my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2020 from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, TX. I specialize in sex, love, and porn addiction, EMDR & trauma, and immigration evaluations. My experience includes years of work in the Non-Profit sector of community mental health in Houston, Texas. I am a supervisor to a team of bilingual mental health clinicians. Since 2019, I have worked with adult patients in an inpatient facility, adolescents in a substance abuse facility, adolescents in a charter school system, adolescents in a shelter for unaccompanied youth, and with adults and adolescents in private practice. Over the years, I have done significant work providing treatment for various forms of trauma and abuse. I have a specialty in identifying and treating individuals with unresolved trauma using evidenced based modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy (EMDR). I am trained in identifying and treating patterns of domestic abuse and human trafficking, including dynamics of power and control, as well as physical, emotional, sexual, and economic abuse, and abuse related to immigration status. I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board for Certified Counselors and a Certified Trauma and Resilience Practitioner (CTRP-C) through STARR Commonwealth. I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), a Sex & Love Addiction therapist, through IITAP.
