About Me
I help adults and adolescents heal from trauma, painful childhood experiences, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and patterns that continue to affect their lives long after the original experiences have passed. Many of the people I work with understand intellectually why they feel or react as they do, but still feel stuck emotionally or physically. EMDR therapy can help address the experiences and beliefs underlying those patterns so that lasting change becomes possible.
My approach is warm, compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in respect for each person’s strengths and capacity to heal. I work to create a therapeutic relationship in which clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and emotionally safe. Therapy is not something I do “to” a client; it is work we undertake together, at a pace that respects the client’s needs, readiness, and goals.
I have particular experience working with childhood trauma, abuse and neglect, attachment wounds, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, family and relationship concerns, major life transitions, and complex or longstanding trauma. I integrate EMDR with trauma-informed, strengths-based, relational, and evidence-informed approaches. My goal is not simply to reduce symptoms, but to help clients develop greater freedom, self-understanding, resilience, and the ability to live more fully in the present.
Education & Experience
I earned a Master of Science (MS) in Counseling Psychology from Seattle Pacific University and completed my EMDR training through H2 Psychotherapy Services. I am a Washington State Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Child Mental Health Specialist with more than 25 years of clinical and behavioral-health experience.
Throughout my career, I have provided and overseen behavioral-health services for children, adolescents, adults, and families experiencing trauma, abuse and neglect, anxiety, depression, attachment disruptions, relationship and family challenges, and complex mental-health needs. My clinical background includes community mental health, residential treatment, child welfare, family-preservation services, and private practice.
I founded Resilience Psychological Associates in 2006 and continue to provide psychotherapy through the practice. My work focuses particularly on childhood and complex trauma, attachment wounds, and the ways earlier experiences continue to shape a person’s emotions, relationships, beliefs, and responses in the present.
In addition to my direct clinical work, I spent 14 years as Chief Operating Officer and five years as Chief Executive Officer of a comprehensive behavioral-health and human-services organization. This combination of clinical and organizational leadership gives me a broad understanding of trauma, child development, family systems, relationships, and the environmental and systemic factors that influence emotional well-being.
My EMDR practice is informed by extensive experience supporting people with acute, complex, and longstanding concerns. I remain committed to continued professional development and to providing trauma treatment that is compassionate, collaborative, responsive, and evidence-informed.
