About Me

Dr. Deb Hurford is a Florida-based psychotherapist, coach, multidisciplinary artist, educator and author. Her social impact includes spearheading the 1st Victim Services Unit for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Alberta; Authoring a book on Theatre as a Healing tool; Designing internationally recognized Drama Psychoeducation programs for the Correctional Service of Canada, and leading Family Violence prevention campaigns for the Government of Alberta. For the past ten years, Dr. Hurford has been providing therapy and coaching services to individuals, couples and groups. She utilizes systemic, relational, evidence-based creative and digital approaches, including EMDR. Recipient of the Canada Solicitor General Award, Dr. Deb Hurford is internationally recognized for her creative, evidence-based and digital approaches to complex problems. Her work has been examined in university courses, dissertations, books, peer reviewed articles, televised productions and online resources in Canada, the UK and the United States. Dr. Deb Hurford currently teaches a university psychology course and offers a weekly Creativity Circle for her clients, as well.

Education & Experience

Deb is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Florida (MT 3998), an EMDRIA approved EMDR Therapist, a Clinical Fellow and AAMFT Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). She graduated Summa Cum Laude with her PhD (Couple and Family Therapy) degree from Nova Southeastern University, where she also earned a MS degree (Family Therapy) and a certificate in Solution Focus Coaching. Deb received her MFA (Theatre Directing), MA (Drama) and BEd (Drama/English) degrees from the University of Alberta in Canada, where she was an adjunct drama professor.
