About Me

Derrick is an independently Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a state supervisor designation (LPCC-S), licensed in the State of Ohio by the Ohio Counseling, Social Worker, Marriage Family Therapist Board (License No. E2001724-SUPV). With a wealth of knowledge and expertise, Derrick approaches each therapeutic encounter with empathy, insight, and dedication. As a certified EMDR Therapist, Derrick’s primary focus lies in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), a powerful therapy for processing trauma and fostering healing. His licensure and state supervisor designation reflect his commitment to excellence in the field of mental health. Derrick’s therapeutic approach is grounded in a trauma-informed, person-centered framework. He believes in creating a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences openly, empowering them to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and strength. Derrick’s passion lies in supporting individuals and couples who are grappling with overwhelming life experiences, crises, and trauma. Through the lens of trauma-informed care and interpersonal neurobiology, he specializes in aiding first responders, military personnel, couples, and adolescents on their journey towards healing and growth. In addition to EMDR therapy, Derrick is trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and cognitive processing therapy (CPT). He draws from these evidence-based modalities to tailor treatment plans that address the unique needs and goals of each client. As a devoted member of the recovery community and a supportive friend of Bill W., Derrick understands the complexities of addiction and recovery. He stands ready to offer guidance, support, and encouragement to first responders navigating the challenges of sobriety.
