About Me
Deshawna (she/her) is a Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist, Yoga Instructor and EMDR-trained therapist based in Toronto, Ontario. She supports black and racialized women navigating anxiety, burnout, life transitions, and the somatic impacts of racial and intergenerational trauma.
Many of the clients Deshawna works with have tried talk therapy before and are looking for a deeper, more body-based approach to healing. Her work is grounded in trauma-informed care and integrates EMDR with somatic practices to support both emotional processing and nervous system regulation.
Deshawna uses EMDR to help clients process experiences that feel “stuck,” reducing emotional reactivity and shifting long-standing patterns. She incorporates mindfulness, breathwork, and body awareness into sessions to support clients in reconnecting with their bodies and building a greater sense of safety and stability.
Her approach is warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive. She creates a space where clients feel understood without needing to over-explain their lived experiences, and where healing can happen at a pace that feels supportive and sustainable.
She offers both ongoing EMDR therapy and extended sessions for clients seeking more focused, in-depth work.
