About Me
Having grown up in Detroit in a multiracial family of creative people, I am well-suited to clients who live in marginalized spaces - as we face unique challenges from mainstream society. These can be a result of ethnicity, gender, sexuality, size, hidden and obvious disabilities, class, as well as the multiple other ways people experience discrimination. And there are many. I fell in love with EMDR therapy by experiencing it personally and knew it was the modality I wanted to focus on in my career. I am also oriented philosophically with Gestalt therapy as I had many years of experience as a client and mentee of a wonderful Gestalt therapist.
Education & Experience
I have a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education with a visual arts minor. I have a masters degree from Wayne State University in mental health counseling with a specialization in art therapy. I have worked with survivors of intimate partner violence, child sexual abuse, and sexual assault in a non profit organization. I have worked with college aged students at a local university as well. Before becoming a therapist I taught yoga for many years and continue to teach as much as my schedule will allow. I am trained with the Mindfulness Institute for Emerging Adults (MIEA) to teach Intro to Mindfulness which I have had the pleasure to teach for a yoga teacher training.
