About Me

Life presents challenging situations for each and every one of us. These challenges, when they arise, can help us grow and change, transform, and heal emotional wounds. I am a respectful, open-minded, and compassionate mind/body psychotherapist who assists clients to find practical solutions to life challenges. I provide my clients with a welcoming, safe, and non-judgmental environment that allows for deeper understanding of themselves, the issues they bring to therapy, and to identify their strengths. I have a strong ability to work with clients from a diverse range of backgrounds, understanding and respecting the impact of difference and diversity upon their lives. The strengths I bring to my work are warmth, compassion, and empathy. Trauma, relationship issues, expressing and managing emotions, stress, and marital problems are common issues my clients bring to therapy.

Education & Experience

I have a solid foundation in a number of therapeutic and intervention models, including Evidence Based Treatments. I integrate a cognitive and behavioral approach with psychodynamic and body-centered techniques. I’m trained and certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a somatic therapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences; and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), an experiential therapy which addresses distress in couples and helps to create a more secure bond. I am also certified in the Hakomi Method, which studies, through the use of mindfulness, how we organize experience. I have extensive training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a body-oriented therapy that combines cognitive, emotional, verbal dialogue, and somatic interventions that draw from attachment theory and neuroscience; and Internal Family Systems (IFS), a model that studies the relationship of the self to parts. I specialize in trauma and couples therapy and have over 18 years of experience working with multicultural populations, including the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) community. I’m also bicultural and speak Spanish fluently.
