About Me
I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago. I was born in Chicago, Illinois but grew up in Mexico City. I speak Spanish fluently and I am bicultural (Mexican/American). I understand that different cultural dynamics can affect a therapeutic relationship and therefore, I am mindful of the importance of providing non-judgmental therapy. I have a long history of working in multicultural clinical settings that deal mostly with trauma, providing me with extensive trauma training and experience in treating individuals with a history of post-traumatic stress disorder, complex trauma, depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders. I am a trauma-informed therapist trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotional Freedom Technique, Mindfulness, as well as being a Certified Anger Management Specialist. I can provide anger management classes for groups or individuals mandated by the court. I believe in utilizing evidence-based interventions to the best of my ability with the hope of helping you overcome and cope with grief or loss, trauma, and any other struggles you might be facing. I believe that every living being has the fundamental right to be loved, respected, and cared for. My goal as a therapist is to be able to provide quality adult mental health care regardless of race, income, religion, or sexual identity.
