About Me
Dr. Powell has served the South Texas community for over 12 years in a variety of capacities with child welfare agencies and mental health community centers. She has experience working with trauma survivors, children and adolescents, and adult perpetrators of domestic violence. She is a master’s level clinician trained to provide Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) psychotherapy. In addition to her role as a counselor, She has experience conducting home studies for private adoptions. When she is not working to help those in need, she spends her time raising her four children.
Education & Experience
Dr. Powell earned her Doctorate of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision at Walden University, her Master of Science in Community and Mental Health Counseling at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi in 2011, and her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at Texas A&M University – Kingsville in 2008.

Dr. Powell is a full member of the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA), the Texas Counseling Association, Chi Sigma Iota, American Counseling Association (ACA), and Association for Counselor Educators and Supervisors (ACES).
