EMDR Certified Therapist

About Me

I have over 25 years of combined experience working in non-profit agencies as an advocate, coordinator, and clinical director, as well as working as a therapist in private practice clinics. I work with both adolescents and adults, providing individual, couples, family, and group therapy. My specialties include working with the challenges of chemical dependency issues and other addictive behaviors such as shopping, eating disorders, and gambling. I help facilitate healing for people suffering from PTSD and trauma as the result of physical, sexual, emotional abuse and neglect. I provide an empathic and relational experience to assist with the challenging and sometimes debilitating effects of anxiety, depression, dissociation, self-harm behaviors, and chronic pain. I have also worked extensively with individuals escaping prostitution and domestic violence as well as helping people to rebuild their lives after incarceration. I believe that people already possess the resiliency and strength needed to thrive rather than to just survive. My goal is to provide a safe and healing environment where one can reveal the hurts in their life, to uncover the pain of both the past and present, to achieve a life worth living. I incorporate an eclectic approach including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), mindfulness and meditation. I utilize both Eastern and Western approaches to assist in transforming the mind and helping one to create their own path to Emotional Healing and Well Being. Background * Master of Social Work, University of New England; Graduate degree in Social Work, 1997. * Clinical Member of EMDRIA, International Association of EMDR; Minnesota Women in Psychology; National Association of Social Workerpy * Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) * Certification in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) State of Minnesota Licensure Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker # 17448
