Dr. Jocelyn Abrams, PhD
About Me
Dr. Jocelyn Abrams completed her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Houston and her predoctoral fellowship in Clinical Psychology at Yale University School of Medicine. While at Yale, Dr. Abrams specialized in treating substance use, anxiety, and depression. Dr. Abrams completed her postdoctoral residency in Clinical Psychology at the VA Medical Center in Houston, where she focused on treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), trauma, substance use, anxiety, depression, and other concerns. Dr. Abrams is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine. She spent several years providing personalized care at community clinics, university counseling centers, academic medical centers, and inpatient and outpatient psychiatric facilities. Dr. Abrams has extensive experience in using evidence-based modalities for treating depression, anxiety, adjustments, transition, loss, trauma related disorders (including PTSD), and substance use. Dr. Abrams is highly successful in working with a wide variety of clients, from adolescents to adults providing her clients with a safe, empathetic, and solution-based environment in which to grow and develop a new sense of self. This approach allows young and mature clients to achieve insight, increased awareness, empowerment, and personal growth. Dr. Abrams aids adolescents/young adults and adults in developing personally tailored coping skills to facilitate change. She also provides parent coaching, helping parents cope with their own stress and anxiety as their children face the challenges of life. The journey towards recovery is extremely personalized. Dr. Abrams is passionate about providing her clients with impactful insight, practical tools, and outstanding care to improve their well-being. It is possible to live a life of deep meaning, purpose, happiness, and peace. Dr. Abrams is certified under PSYPACT – an agreement that allows psychologists to provide telehealth services across state lines.
