Trauma and PTSD are unhealed brain injuries. They are not moral failures, character flaws or weaknesses. You can't judge yourself for the choices you made while you were suffering from this injury no more than one can be judged for not being able to run with a broken leg. Like any injury, healing must happen from the inside out, and ignoring that you have been injured only worsens the wound. You are not broken; you are wounded. The feelings and behaviors you can’t seem to change are because trauma creates unconscious yet powerful attractions to familiar personalities and behavior patterns. EMDR therapy may help you to heal for good! Some events from our past are just too big to talk our way out of, which is why traditional talk therapy can be limited in its ability to heal and treat trauma. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy can help by pinpointing traumatic memories so that you can finally heal and move forward with a healthier view of yourself and the world.
