About Me

Katharine Fertig MSW, LISW-S, LCDC III graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education and a Master’s degree of Social Work. Katharine worked with children with severe behavior disorders for 11 years. Katharine was also the recovery specialist at a group home for clients with severe persistent mental health. She has been working as an outpatient counselor and intensive outpatient counselor for the past several years in community mental health. Katharine is now at Hope Village Recovery Center in Rootstown, Ohio. It is a private practice focused on substance use and clients with co-occurring disorders. Katharine is the Trauma Care Coordinator. The focus of her clinical work utilizes EMDR Therapy, as well as expressive arts, mindfulness, and meditation. She has done extensive training on Dissociative Identity Disorder. Katharine is a graduate of the Institute for Creative Mindfulness EMDR Therapy Training Program, as well as a Consultant-in-Training working toward Approved Consultant status under the direction of Rachel Weaver. She has also trained with ICM as a Certified Dancing Mindfulness Facilitator and Certified Expressive Arts Therapist.
